Random standards refer to the established protocols and mathematical guidelines used to ensure that random numbers used in cryptography are truly unpredictable. In a computer system, true randomness is difficult to achieve because software is inherently logical and deterministic.
Therefore, developers use standardized Pseudo-Random Number Generators (PRNGs) that have been vetted by the scientific community to ensure they contain no discoverable patterns.Compliance with standards like NIST SP 800-90A ensures that entropy (unpredictability) is gathered from physical sources, such as thermal noise or microscopic hardware fluctuations, before being processed into a seed for a generator.
