Non-custodial Infrastructure Meaning

Non-custodial infrastructure refers to the backend technology stack that enables applications to function without centralizing control. This includes RPC Nodes (to read blockchain data), IPFS/Arweave (to store data files decentrally), and The Graph (to index blockchain data).

It also includes Multi-Party Computation (MPC) networks. These allow wallets to be secured by splitting a private key into multiple shards held by different parties, allowing for recovery and security without any single party having full custody.

The goal of this infrastructure is to build "Unstoppable Applications." If an app relies on AWS (Amazon Web Services), Amazon can turn it off.

If it relies on non-custodial, decentralized infrastructure, it is censorship-resistant and theoretically exists as long as the blockchain itself keeps running.
