Zero-Value Transfer Scam Meaning

A zero-value transfer scam involves sending a spam transaction with no monetary value to a victim’s address and embedding a malicious address in the transaction history or comment field. When the victim later copies their own address for legitimate use, they may mistakenly copy the scammer’s address from the history or a third-party wallet interface.

As a result, funds intended for the victim’s own account are sent to the scammer.

To avoid zero-value transfer scams, users should copy addresses directly from trusted sources, verify addresses before sending, and ignore unfamiliar transaction notes.
