Verification code Meaning

A verification code is a short sequence of numbers or characters sent to a user via SMS, email, or an authenticator app to confirm their identity during login, password resets, or transactions. Verification codes are often part of multi-factor authentication schemes; they add an extra layer of security by ensuring that the person attempting to access an account also has access to a trusted communication channel.

These codes are typically time-limited and can only be used once. In the crypto ecosystem, exchanges and wallets send verification codes to authorise withdrawals or account changes, helping prevent unauthorised transfers.

Users should be cautious of phishing scams that attempt to solicit verification codes, as sharing them can lead to account compromise.
