Regens Meaning

"Regens" (short for Regenerators) is a term used to describe members of the crypto community who are dedicated to the principles of Regenerative Finance (ReFi). They are the antithesis of "Degens" (Degenerates), who focus on high-risk speculation and short-term profit.

Regens believe that decentralized technology's highest use case is solving the world's most pressing collective action problems.Community participation often centers around Public Goods funding via platforms like Gitcoin. They use mechanisms like "Impact Certificates" to prove they have contributed to a positive outcome, such as writing open-source code or funding sustainable farming.

These certificates can then be traded or used to access further funding, creating a "Reputation-based" economy where value is determined by contribution rather than just wealth.The Regen movement is a critical "Moral Compass" for the crypto industry. It provides a counter-narrative to the idea that crypto is just a casino for gambling.

By focusing on real-world impact, Regens help build the social legitimacy needed for governments and institutions to support blockchain technology. They are the primary drivers of projects related to universal basic income (UBI), decentralized science (DeSci), and environmental conservation.
