Merkle Leaf Meaning

The lowest level of a Merkle Tree. Each leaf is the hash of a single piece of data-usually a transaction ID.

If you think of a block as a book, the Merkle Leaves are the individual words on the pages. Every transaction in a block is hashed to create a leaf.

These leaves are then paired up and hashed again, climbing up the tree until they reach a single root.

The significance of a Merkle Leaf is that it allows for granular verification.
