Zero-Knowledge Proof Meaning

A zero-knowledge proof (ZKP) is a cryptographic protocol in which a prover convinces a verifier that they know a piece of information or that a statement is true without revealing the information or any additional data. ZKPs come in interactive and non-interactive forms, with applications ranging from secure identification and anonymous credentials to blockchain privacy and rollup scalability.

For instance, privacy-focused cryptocurrencies like Zcash use ZKPs to allow users to prove ownership of funds and validity of transactions without disclosing addresses or amounts.

The efficiency and reliability of zero-knowledge proofs make them vital for enhancing privacy and security across decentralised systems.
