Yield Meaning

Yield measures the income generated by an investment relative to the amount invested and is typically expressed as an annual percentage. In traditional finance, yields can come from interest payments, dividends, or bond coupon payments.

In cryptocurrency, yields may arise from staking rewards, lending interest, liquidity provider fees, or other forms of passive income. Yield calculations vary depending on the asset and product; for example, annual percentage yield (APY) accounts for compounding, while annual percentage rate (APR) does not.

Investors evaluate yields in conjunction with risk, as higher yields often accompany higher risk.
