Web Application Firewall (WAF) Meaning

A Web Application Firewall (WAF) is a security device or service that monitors, filters, and blocks HTTP traffic to and from web applications. By inspecting incoming requests and outgoing responses, a WAF identifies and mitigates threats such as SQL injection, cross-site scripting (XSS), and distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks.

WAFs can be deployed at the edge (e.g., integrated with a content delivery network) or as a software plugin on the application server.

For crypto exchanges and DeFi platforms, WAFs play a critical role in protecting user data and preventing exploitation of application vulnerabilities.
