Wallet verification Meaning

Wallet verification is a process used by exchanges, regulated platforms, and some DeFi services to verify ownership of a cryptocurrency wallet. Typically, the platform asks the user to sign a message using the private key of the wallet or to send a nominal transaction from the wallet to a specified address.

This process demonstrates control over the wallet without revealing private keys. Wallet verification may be required to comply with anti-money laundering and know-your-customer regulations, ensuring that funds are transferred to legitimate and identified owners.

Verified wallets can then participate in certain services, such as fiat off-ramps, token airdrops, or exclusive DeFi products.
