TOTAL3 Meaning

TOTAL3 measures the total market capitalization of cryptocurrencies excluding both Bitcoin and Ethereum. This index focuses on the performance of smaller-cap and mid-cap altcoins, offering insight into speculative activity and risk tolerance within the market.

TOTAL3 is often used to gauge the health of the broader altcoin ecosystem beyond major assets. Rapid growth in TOTAL3 may indicate increased retail participation, innovation cycles, or speculative excess, while sharp declines often accompany market corrections.

Because TOTAL3 assets tend to be more volatile and less liquid, movements in this index can be exaggerated.

As such, TOTAL3 is a useful but high-risk indicator, best analyzed alongside volume, liquidity, and macro conditions.
