Shitcoin Meaning
"Shitcoin" is a pejorative term used to describe a cryptocurrency that has no clear utility, a poor technical foundation, a dishonest team, or is simply a "Pump and Dump" scheme. While the term is subjective-Bitcoin Maximalists often call everything except Bitcoin a shitcoin-it generally refers to the thousands of "Low-cap" tokens that are created solely to extract money from "Retail" investors through hype. From a technical perspective, a shitcoin is often a "Copypasta" of another project's code with only the name and supply changed.
These projects rarely have a "Whitepaper" that describes a new technical innovation; instead, they focus on "Tokenomics" designed to pump the price, such as "Reflections" (where you get more tokens just for holding) or "Burns." Because they lack a real community or "Developer Mindshare," 99% of shitcoins eventually go to zero once the initial hype fades.Despite the name, "Shitcoin Trading" is a massive and highly profitable (though extremely risky) sub-sector of the market. Traders use "DEX Screeners" and "Botting Tools" to find these coins the moment they are launched on Uniswap, hoping to "10x" their money in a few hours before the "Rug Pull" happens.
This "Casino-like" behavior is what gives the broader crypto industry a bad reputation, but it also provides the "Stress Test" for the decentralized infrastructure that must handle the massive volume and "Malicious Code" these projects generate.
