NFT Collection Meaning
An NFT Collection is a series of NFTs released by a single creator or project, usually sharing a common artistic theme or utility. Famous examples include Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC), CryptoPunks, or Doodles.
These collections typically consist of a fixed supply of tokens (often 10,000) generated algorithmically with a mix of different traits (e.g., background color, accessories, facial expressions). The collection aspect is crucial for building "Community." Owning an NFT from a specific collection often grants membership to an exclusive club.
This might include access to a private Discord server, real-life parties, merchandise, or intellectual property rights to the character. The collection functions as a brand, and the holders are the brand ambassadors.
In terms of market dynamics, collections are tracked by their "Floor Price"-the lowest price one can pay to buy an item from that collection. A rising floor price indicates that the community is strong and holders are unwilling to sell, while a falling floor suggests that interest in the project (or the "Vibe") is fading.
