Mempool Meaning

Short for memory pool. It is the waiting room of a blockchain network.

When you send a transaction, it doesn't go onto the ledger immediately; it first enters the mempool of the nodes on the network. Think of the mempool as a bidding war.

If there are thousands of people trying to send money at once, the miners or validators will look into the mempool and pick the transactions that offer the highest fees first.

If you set your fee too low, your transaction might sit in the mempool for hours or even days until the traffic dies down.
