Marlowe Meaning

A domain-specific language (DSL) designed for writing "Financial Smart Contracts" on the Cardano blockchain. It is built to be accessible to people who are experts in "Finance" but not necessarily experts in "Programming." Marlowe uses a "Blockly" visual interface (like LEGO blocks) that allows users to build contracts by dragging and dropping financial components like "Payments," "Escrows," and "Swaps." This reduces the "Technical Barrier to Entry" and minimizes the risk of coding "Bugs" that often lead to hacks in more complex languages like Solidity.

The goal of Marlowe is to "Standardize" financial contracts on the ledger. Because it is a "Purpose-built" language, it can "Formally Verify" that a contract will always behave as expected-for example, it can prove that a contract will never "Lock" funds forever.

This makes it highly attractive for "Institutional Finance" and "Legal Tech" applications.
