JavaScript Object Notation (JSON) Meaning

A lightweight, text-based data format that is easy for humans to read and write and easy for machines to parse and generate. It has become the "language of the internet" for moving data between a server and a web application.

In a JSON object, data is organized into "key-value pairs" (e.g., "price": "50000"). This simple structure is incredibly flexible and has replaced the much more complex XML as the standard for APIs.

Almost every crypto exchange uses JSON to deliver its real-time price feeds to traders and apps. Because JSON is "language-independent," it allows a server written in Python to talk to a mobile app written in Swift.

It is the "universal translator" that allows the thousands of different services in the fintech and blockchain ecosystem to share information and work together as a unified whole.
