Interoperability Meaning

The ability of different systems, applications, or blockchains to communicate, share data, and work together seamlessly. In a siloed world, your data in App A cannot be used in App B.

In an interoperable world, your digital identity, your reputation, and your assets move with you across the entire digital landscape. For the industry, interoperability is the "Holy Grail." Currently, many blockchains act like different "countries" with different languages and currencies.

Bridges and protocols (like IBC or LayerZero) are being built to "translate" between these chains, allowing a user to use an asset from one chain as collateral in a dApp on another. True interoperability would mean a user doesn't even have to know which blockchain they are using.

They simply interact with an interface, and the "plumbing" in the background moves the data and assets to the correct destination. This is widely considered the key to moving from a niche technology to a global standard for the entire internet.
