Active Balance Meaning

Active Balance represents the portion of an account’s funds that is immediately usable for trading, withdrawals, settlement, or collateral. It excludes capital locked in open orders, margin requirements, settlement queues, or system holds.

Platforms dynamically update active balances as orders are submitted, filled, or canceled; as trades settle; or as withdrawals are initiated. This real-time availability is essential for pre-trade risk checks, automated execution systems, liquidity provisioning, and treasury management.
